Pregnancy is not the only thing to be concerned about after having sex.

STD/STD’s (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) also known as STI’s (Sexually Transmitted Infections) are common. Some can be cured. Some can not. Many have lifelong effects. The Center provides testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea at no cost to you.

Chlamydia is the most frequently reported bacterial STD in the United States. Any sexually active person can be infected with Chlamydia. The greater number of sex partners, the greater the risk of infection. Because the cervix of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured, they are at particularly high risk for infection.

Gonorrhea can be contracted by having sex vaginally, anally and orally with an infected person. Gonorrhea is the second most common bacterial STD and symptoms may include pain when going to the bathroom or a discharge from the penis or vagina.

The CDC estimates 20 million new STD’s occur each year in the United States in men and women between the ages of 15-24.
